How to Use the HELOC Payment Calculator
Step 1: Draw-period balance
Enter line limit, balance drawn and assumed variable rate. Monthly equivalent uses rate/12; choose an actual billing-day count and contractual day-count basis for a daily-interest estimate.
Step 2: Repayment assumptions
Enter the balance and rate you expect at repayment start, and the months to repay it. Additional draws, rate changes and principal paid before conversion can change that balance.
Calculate, compare and request a review
Choose Calculate to see your estimate. Change one assumption at a time and calculate again. Contact information is optional. Use the review form or Text a Question when you need help verifying the inputs.
How the Calculator Works
Monthly IO=drawn balance×annual rate/1200. Daily-period interest=balance×annual rate/100×billing days/contractual360or365. Repayment P&I amortizes entered repayment balance at its assumed rate and term.
Example calculation
Hypothetical example, not an available loan offer. A $50,000 drawn balance at12% has $500 monthly-equivalent interest, before principal and fees.
How to interpret your results
The amortizing repayment payment can be much larger than interest-only outflow. Actual line minimums and changing daily balances follow the credit agreement.
Assumptions and factors that change the result
Constant balance during selected billing period, no new draws, tiered minimum payment, fees or rate forecast. Line eligibility and Texas restrictions require review.
Frequently asked questions
Why can my statement interest differ from balance times rate divided by twelve?
Some HELOC statements use daily balances, the number of days and a 360- or 365-day convention. This tool lets you model a constant balance under a selected day-count basis; actual changing balances require the statement ledger.
Do these results mean I am approved?
No. The tool calculates the entered scenario. Documentation, property eligibility, program rules and lender review remain separate.
What should I do when an input is uncertain?
Use a documented quote or clearly labeled planning assumption. Change one input at a time, calculate again, and request a review before relying on it.
